As soon as I stepped foot outside of my dorm this morning I encountered visual rhetoric. Taped to the front of my door are posters informing me of hall activities that were coming soon. As I made my way to the elevator, flyers were hung upon the walls and cork boards. In the elevator lobby, posters are taped to the window to advertise free zumba classes on the first floor every Tuesday. On my way to my first class, I see various logos printed across hats, t-shirts, and hooded sweatshirts. While walk I past the Bracken Library, I am able to hear a slight buzz of music from several people's headphones. I encounter a man repeating, "help stop aids" as he hands each person a flyer, including myself. Besides the famous clothing logos I see, I pass many people sporting Ball State clothing. I am near my destination when I see several cars drive by with stickers on their bumpers. Walking up the steps to the Teacher's College, I see flyers stuck on the inside of the glass doors. Inside of the building there are many papers pasted onto the walls directing students to their classes. Before I know it, I'm already walking into my classroom.
After today's exercise and assignment, I am more aware of how rhetoric exists all around us in our everyday lives.
