My reading experiences have not necessarily been good ones. My reading comprehension level has never been exactly "high". For many years in school my teachers would assign reading assignments and I would not do well at all. I would do the reading, but my mind would not absorb all the information presented with the text. In high school, I would find myself reading things over two or three times before they would sink in. It was a bit embarrassing as well. I always felt behind everyone else or would feel stupid for not finishing as fast as others. It has not been pleasant, to say the least.
Writing, on the other hand, has always been a strong suit of mine. Throughout school my classes had many different writing assignments. I was always able to show my creativity through writing stories for class or a short essay. I was always able to "turn a phrase" in a great way. Many teachers have told me that I have a great "tone" in my writings. My imagination has always been broad, so writing things down off the top of my head was great. Being a musician and songwriter now, I am able to take my writing and turn them into songs. Whether they are lyrical rock songs, or just instrumental ballads, my ability to tell a story through sound has been weaved through my writings over the years.
